We are currently reviewing the work of the 5000 Project in the light of the growth and development of Bromley Homeless which is aiming to provide advice and support on the church premisses for the homeless for 5 days a week.
From the beginning the aim of the 5000 Project was to provide support and hope to people in Bromley who were, for whatever reason, marginalised from the rest to society. To expand the scope of this work the church has recently joined the Inclusive Church Network. The Inclusive Church vision Adopted at the 2019 Annual General Meeting:
'We believe in inclusive Church – a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate. We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on the grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ. '
These are the principles which have always guided the work of the Project and they will continue to guide us as we look to the future.
